Hackathon Topic
The hackathon was hosted by Bunq, a Dutch "Neobank" (digital bank). The topic of the hackathon was to build our own AI Agents with the Bunq API and LLMs powered by their partners: AWS and Nvidia. The goal was to create a product that integrated AI Agents, Bunq integrations and LLMs to solve a problem. The hackathon was open to everyone, including students, graduates, and professionals.
Our Solution
Our elevator pitch:
"Foxy: Your Financial Planner" - A personalized financial planner that helps you save money and reach your financial goals. Foxy is an AI-powered finance autopilot that seamlessly integrates with Bunq, providing you with a personalized financial plan.
With our product, you can talk with Foxy, the AI agent, and you will then together discuss your financial goals, whatever they might be. Think about :
- buying a house
- saving for a vacation
- saving for a brand new car
- so on...
After that, Foxy will create a personalized financial plan for you, based on your current financial situation and your goals. Foxy will then help you to reach your goals by providing you with personalized advice and recommendations. Foxy will also help you to track your progress.

One of the most common problems people face with money are long-term investments. Most people don't understand how to save money or how to get started.
That's where Foxy helps bunq users by:
- Coaching them through the savings process
- Providing personalized advice based on their interests, income, expenses, and payment history
- Crafting personalized plans that fit perfectly with their lifestyle Once you and Foxy have agreed on a plan, she will give you additional advice based on your spending habits and will automatically set up a savings account on bunq.

AI Agents : Foxy
Foxy, is an AI agent that is powered by nvidia/llama-3.1-nemotron-ultra-253b-v1. It runs in a python backend server, which has been created with FastAPI and uses OpenAi to communicate with the LLM.
Bunq integration
We integrate the bunq api in several places:
- We use the bunq api to get the payments history of the user, so Foxy can analyze the spending habits of the user and give personalized advice.
- We also create a savings goal in the application for the user, once Foxy has created a financial plan for the user.
Frontend
We know that a good presentation and frontend is key to win a hackathon. So we made sure the frontend looks really nice, as well as the user experience. We have used shadcn/ui to create a modern and sleek frontend. We have used React Vite to create the frontend.
Conclusion
I had a great time at the hackathon, I learned a lot, and did not sleep at all (36+ hrs). I am really happy with the product we made as a team, and proud of what we did in such a short time. We unfortunately did not win any prize, but we went home with a lot of cool merch and having met a lot of new people and some friends.
I am looking forward to the next hackathon!
